Future event timing

Future event timing
I am going to throw this out there since there is not much else to talk about during shutdown.
For several years now we have been getting bounced around to dates that were not our first choice for RTD.
Is there any real reason that the event could not be a mid week event which would likely mean Fontana has an open calender.?
The original event was a Saturday event mostly for locals. It is no longer that.
Before you run me out of town, here is my thinking.
All the retired folks, every day is a weekend so what's the difference?
Those of us who travel 13 hours to attend take off several days (or all week) anyways so not a big deal. (would sure make the one day drive home easier not to be Sunday night)
The real locals who can attend without taking time off work and just show up Friday night, well they can still slip over after work.
What do you say? Too outside the box?
Fontana would likely love to have us show up Sunday night and leave Wednesday. (Or Wednesday and leave Saturday)
Roads are more empty mid week.
As I recall, the poles that have ran in the past wanted end of April for the event. Weekends were not available. I'll bet a mid week event could go whenever we wanted.

I prefer weekends, personally. I like having a long weekend. I don't care if its Mother's Day as I lost mine 3 years ago, sadly. But she knew I have a passion for cars and driving so she would have wanted me to enjoy a car holiday with great roads and good camaraderie. and BBQ. and beer.

I am tagging Ken @kgf3076 on this thread. I got an email the other day about this year’s event and caught the date for the 2021 event that is listed as the same as this year’s new date.
I have set a deadline of May 17 to determine whether to cancel or proceed. Proceeding will depend on Fontana Village being open, the social-distancing and group size rules. In the event that we are unable to attend, you can elect to be registered for either the Dragon Fall Run which will be held September 11-13 or Rock the Dragon 2021 which will be held June 4-7, 2021.

I like that idea. I’ll bet there are more options with Fontana Village or any of the other lodging establishments in the area. I do enjoy Fontana for the spring event. Maybe make the fall event a more portable event with the smaller group now showing up. Would be nice for a change of pace like Spring Fling always moving around.
