Hey Slow,
That's exactly the way I felt at the time. It's easier for me to just go around him, than it is for him to find a pull-off going north bound at night. I didn't have anything negative to say about the guy at the time. He's the one calling me out for doing the sensible thing.
So anyway, glad I could help. Danny's a nice guy and I enjoyed hanging out with him...we sat there and watched Blue Man Group on DVD until the sheriff and tow truck arrived. He had never really heard of them, so we were jammin' out on the side of the road.

The Alabama group wasn't staying at Fontana, but a 2 Sisters Chalet off Happy Valley Road on the TN side of the Dragon. (we where the ones that woke up saturday morning flooded in by an overflowing creek)
Will was taking it slow going back to the Chalet not "Running the Dragon" on a night run. His passenger already uncomfortable from the previous 8 or so daytime runs on the Dragon. A motion sick passenger that you need to spend another 6 hours in the car with isn't a pleasent experience.
Skip Ferrari was ahead of him, and aparently talked to some of the guys at the lookout who had passed Will at night, and where pissed at will's slow pace.
Given all the attention to not crossing the double yellow on the Dragon, and that pics have been posted of others crossing the double yellow calling them out. It's a bit ironic he gets passed by you, who takes some of those pics.
As you allready stated, finding a pull of north bound at night is difficult, especially one that wont swallow up the car.
I pulled over for a gixxer on Saturday (day) and just about bent a wheel in the process. Everyone is there for a good time to be safe and drive a car back home. I hope you can see his side of the situation.

Dude I have absolutely no beef with you whatsoever Killboy. Just let that be known. All I was doing was simply stating a fact. That being don't give other people shit if you do it yourself. If it pissed you off then apperently I was right. No time is a completely safe, responsible time to pass on a double yellow. Much less at night. And I wasn't about to haul ass on a road that I don't know all that well at night and risk going into a ditch or having my girl spew. So sorry I ruined your fun. (slight sarcasm)

I can't exactly advocate passing on the double yellow and stay friendly with police now, can I?
Again, I've never had any problem with people passing other people cleanly out there. If you look over my Tips for Riding Deals Gap, you'll even see that it's a practice I recommend. I mean, if you can't even grasp how passing at night is infinitely safer than passing during the day, then there is no hope for getting through to you at this time.
And you don't really have to pull off the road to let people by, just hit the right turn signal in an open section, preferably a straight or long left hander, and slow down just a tad.
Hey good luck with your future runs guys. You few can call me whatever you want, but most do appreciate the benefit I serve to your enjoyment, and that greatly outweighs the handful of haters. You'll never "ruin my fun", I'll just go around.
