Default Dragon Run/ Saleen Mustang Run

Today, as a new owner of an S2000, I hooked up with Mac, Airgate and several other S2000 owners, (all great and enjoyable people) and ran up to Deals Gap N.C. to run the "Dragon's Tail" for the first time. We got to the Dragon about 8 AM, pulled over, set up some basic safety rules and started out. For those of you who don't know the Dragon, it is 11 miles long, 318 of the wildest curves and the #2 most desirable motorcycle course in the country. As a new S2000 owner I honestly wasn't impressed with the car during it's first 1175 miles, but as I ran those 11 miles, awakening the car, myself and I think GOD, I knew I had found a new toy and joy in life. The car is INCREDIBLE!!! I'm an "old school" guy, horsepower, horsepower, horsepower!!! Well over the next several hours, 6 Dragon runs and many miles through the mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina, I once again learned that it's not the size that counts. Everyone had a great day, especially me. Well, later in the evening, after dinner with my girlfriend, I had to go home to let the dog out and try to get some rest. The drive took me through downtown Knoxville, TN and through several lights where I met up with a nicely modified Saleen Mustang with two young guys smiling and pointing. I was still high from the day. From the first light I let him know I wanted to play. Well that pissed him off and we caught the next two reds before the last light, leaving downtown and entering a long tunnel that erupts into the middle of 3 interstates. Light three, stage, watch the yellow on the side and stand on green. By now several cars behind us were ready for a slaughter (probably mine). The S2000 left the line like 10 Saleens were pushing it. I hit second entering the tunnel dead even with the Mustang. The sound of those 2 cars, mine approaching 9000 rpm was so incredible and LOUD (under that tunnel) it sounded like a live NASCAR / INDY race. Added to that were the echoing horns of all the people behind us................................................ ........ Well I pulled his ass through 2nd and 3rd and left the tunnel 50 feet in front of him.

I am still shaking and that was an hour ago. What a rush and what a day. I pulled into the garage next to a restored and very modified, 600 hp, 1971 440 Plymouth GTX that I spent over $25,000 on to get it to where it is today(dead even with a Saleen I raced a year ago). As the Honda idled so softly, I looked over at the GTX, smiled and almost cried. GREAT DAY EVERYONE THANKS AGAIN!!!!!

And this from the guy who when he joined in, said he was still breaking the car in and didn't want to run it hard!! Sal sure changed his ways over the weekend!!

For some reason, this car does that to you!!!
