Dragon First Timer?
Most of us going to the DBR event have been to the dragon before. There may be some of you that are going for the first time.
Here are a few pointers that will help to keep you out of trouble and more importantly, prevent you from exploring the side of the mountain or river below.
I encourage any veterans of the dragon to add to this list.
1 STAY ON YOUR SIDE OF THE YELLOW LINE. LEFT OF CENTER KILLS!
2 MAKE CERTAIN THAT YOUR CAR IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION BEFORE YOU GO.
TIRES,BRAKES,FLUIDS.
3 LEAVE YOUR EGO AT HOME. WE ARE THERE TO HAVE FUN. YOU NEED NOT TRY TO IMPRESS ANYONE. THAT WILL GET YOU OR ONE OF US HURT OR WORSE.
4 IF YOU ARE APPROACHED FROM THE REAR BY A FASTER DRIVER(CAR OR 2 WHEELER) FIND A SAFE PLACE TO PULL OFF AND LET THEM BY.
5 ALWAYS ACKNOWLEDGE THE COURTESY OF OTHER DRIVERS WHO PULL OFF TO LET YOU PASS. A COUPLE OF TAPS ON THE HORN AND A WAVE ARE APPRECIATED.
6 WHEN APPROACHING THE OVERLOOK, ALWAYS REDUCE YOUR SPEED. THERE ARE PEOPLE CROSSING THE ROAD TO TAKE PICTURES OR CONVERSE AND VEHICLES PULLING BACK ON THE ROAD. IF YOU COME IN "HOT", THERE MAY NOT BE TIME TO REACT.
7 TO SAVE YOUR BRAKES,AFTER A RUN, DRIVE A MILE OF TWO TO LET THE CAR COOL DOWN. IN PARTICULAR, ALLOW THE BRAKES TO COOL BEFORE ENGAGING THE PARKING BRAKE.
8 SHOW RESPECT TO THE OTHERS ON THE DRAGON. WE HAVE A GOOD REPUTATION AS A GROUP AND WE DO NOT WANT THAT TARNISHED.
9 NEVER,NEVER CROSS THE YELLOW
Have fun and be safe.

A functioning caps lock key?
One thing about the adult beverages on Thursday and Friday nights... moderation! Driving hung over is not much fun, and not really safe.
Also, an addendum to #3: Don't get caught up in the mentality of "if that guy can do it, so can I". This is what creates most of the accidents we have.

Great list! I'll only add one, since it cannot be said enough:
DO NOT CROSS THE DOUBLE YELLOW LINE NO MATTER WHAT!
If you find yourself having to cross, slow down, and make a few passes before you attempt that speed again.
If it is your first time, you will see what we mean, soon enough
Are we there, yet?

11. Give the person that has pulled over to toss chunks lots of room. This will keep it off you car and off you camera lens (so you can post a good clean picture).
Seriously though, this is a good list. WTD '07 was my first time and I read that list over and over. I believe that it helped to prepare me for the ride of my life. To bad I forgot the dramamine for me.

check your tire pressure often. it can make a huge difference in how your car handles.
if you feel that you might need new tires, get them now. A mountain road is no place to find out you have no grip.
Watch the road, not the car in front of you. This way, if s/he wrecks you have a chance of avoiding the accident. Your car follows your eyes, if you watch the car in front of you hit a tree you will hit that car. Instead, look for a way out.
