If you've been to this event before you know that we have a tradition. Fridays are for Franklin!

This year we'll continue that tradition. There is a limit to the number of cars in the group so sign up as soon as possible. If the drive fills up we will start a second group.

I am proposing two routes and taking a Poll so here they are:

We will meet at Wildwood grille parking lot at 9:30 AM and plan to leave around 9:45 AM and if we have a second group they will leave around 10 AM

Route 1 (the long one) Pace is moderate
We will head to Caffe Rel in Franklin via NC 28 South. We will fuel up at the gas station there before lunch. After Lunch we will take US 64 to Highlands for Ice cream at Sweet Treats Craft Ice Cream (there are two water falls that we can stop at on the way there, Dry Falls and Bridal Veil Falls). We will leave Highlands taking NC 106 to US 23 north and pick up US 64 just south of Franklin which we will use to head over to Wayah Rd. Wayah ends at US 74 and we'll take that south to 129 north. We'll pass through Robbinsville and take 143 east to 28 north back to Fontana Village. Total drive time 4hrs 15min Map (https://goo.gl/maps/yo1Mb5CSfvZj2A1T9) This puts us potentially getting back to Fontana after 4:30 PM

FYI Caffè Rel is cash only so make sure you have some
If we have a large group we may need to have an over flow to Rockin' Rollie Pollies Resturant


Route 2 (the shorter one) Pace is moderate
We will head to Caffe Rel in Franklin via NC 28 South. We will fuel up at the gas station there before lunch. After Lunch we will take US 64 just south of Franklin and head straight to Wayah Rd. Wayah ends at US 74 and we'll take that south to 129 north and have the option to stop in Robbinsville for Ice cream at Pop & Nana's Kitchen (The Scoop). From there we'll take 129 north to Tail of the Dragon (KillBoy) where you can stock up on stickers and t-shirts. From there it's a short run up NC 28 to Fontana Total drive time 3hrs 15min Map (https://goo.gl/maps/LWhqMDvAmwBaY7fr9) This puts us getting back to Fontana around 3:15 pm

Bob, I think I saw your name on Jim's Little Switzerland drive? I would love to have you with us and If we end up with two groups you are definitely the man to lead a second group. Just let me know what your plan is.

Yeah, I think after RTD21 Jim and I agreed that it's best to do the long drive on Friday.
