good posts above. just keep in mind, this is a public road, and semis drive through it on occasion (that must suck). there's nothing crazy about it that would make it a hard drive in an S, as long as you don't try and push things as has been mentioned many times above. you can drive it real slow and it would still be fun. nice scenery, too.

The best words of wisdom given to you has been to "Drive Within Your Limits"
The S2000 is much more capable of taking "The Dragon" than you are - no matter what your experience level is.
Yes, tracor/trailers have been on "The Dragon" but the main problem we'll all have is the motor cycles and other cars that cross the Double Yellow: especially in the corners.
My suggestion is to get with someone that has been on "The Dragon" before and follow them. You do not have to go as fast as them and you definately do not want to tail gate.
Also, if you get the time - practice on Thursadyand Friday, so you get use to the route.
Above all else, do not let your ego get the best of you!

Th only thing I can add is the advice of our Proving Ground drivers who drive a variety of cars, many prototypes with unknown or quirky handling -- "Drive uo to YOUR limit, not AT your limit"
In other words, start slow, approach YOUR limits cautiously, don't push it. Then enjoy!

Hey everyone,
I've been looking forward to the Dragon all year.
Was planning on making the 1000 mile trip with my father for some quality bonding time.
I live in a different state from my parents (I'm a big boy) and my Dad doesn't drive my car very much. It's geared and supercharged and pretty twitchy. I bought the Racelogic Traction Control to make it safer for him to drive, but haven't had time to install it yet.
In talking to him, I'm getting the sense that he is very apprehensive about driving it on the Dragon. With the recent posts of even experienced S2000 owners crashing their cars lately, I'm getting apprehensive too.
I don't care if the car gets wrecked, but the last thing I want is for him to get hurt in the remote mountains without appropriate medical facilities (he has heart disease).
So my question is: Do I take a different car to the Dragon? I recently picked up an RS4 as a daily driver and could take that instead. It'd make for an easier road trip and would be more stable for a novice driver... especially if there's rain as is potentially in the forecast.
But I'm worried that I'll miss out on the camaraderie of an S2000 meet! Will you guys still talk to me if we take a different car?

As far as people not talking to you, anyone who refuses to talk to you just because you may bring your RS4 is probably a jerk anyway. If all else fails, come find me. I will bring you in to our group...we are a fun crowd.
