I have organized and lead a number of drives at WTD/DBR's..... drives never go as fast as you think they will... people are slow getting to their cars at every stop.... for some reason they want to talk to each other..

You have 4:16 hours just plain driving time if you do the Lost Sea (according to Mapquest directions). If you don't take the Cherohala back, and go up 441, you can shave about 30 minutes off your drive...

This does not include any stops at overlooks along the Cherohala Skyway.

Better figure in a gas stop and potty break on the way or way back (30 minutes)
Parking at Lost Sea, getting people together at Lost Sea (15 minutes)
Tour time of 1:15 (tour may not start for 20 minutes when you get there)
Getting people together and in cars after tour (15 minutes)

You have about 2:35 hours of added time. Just wanted to give you this heads up.... so that you plan your time well, and give yourself some time to get cleaned up for the Banquet which starts at 7:00....

Total time.... 6:51 hours.

There is no way you will be back at 6:00.

 

Good points, Mikey! Pedro, the lunch will be "bag lunches", so if your group would like to just show up at the top of the dam and grab a bag & drink to go, that would give you an earlier start. One of the overlook stops could be a nice place to consume the lunch. Just a thought...
