Break-In Before the Dragon

Break-In Before the Dragon
I guess I could search through S2000 Talk (and I did.. ), but I was wondering what everyone's opinion was on engine break-in...especially since I'm still not at 600 miles and WTD is 3 days away..
Things I've heard. Please tell me which ones you believe I should follow. I'm sure I will have varying information, so please remember that I'm asking for opinions, not trying to start a flame war on proper break-in.
1) Don't vtec/wot past 5500 rpm for the first 600 miles
2) Vary speeds..it shouldn't be all highway miles for the first 600 miles.
3) After 600 miles, get an oil change
4) Use traditional oil, not a synthetic for the first 7500 miles.
5) Even after 600 miles, still take it easy until 1000 miles
Please help. I might be able to crack 600 by Thursday morning (I'll have time to do an oil change by then).
Thanks!
PS. I wonder if I'm going to have the lowest mileage S at WTD... I started with 12 miles on the 15th ..

sounds good to me, If I were you I would be racking up miles in your free time as much as possible though!
as wrong as this may sound, my friend gave one of his three first engines hell and it lasted the longest of the three (mazda piston engine) so it may help the car seat better in extreme conditions than taking it easy the first 3K miles.
But I could be and probably am wrong.

thanks
so should i be doing an oil change down at the dragon then? or rack up the 600 miles here, do the oil, then go?
or..someone also suggested leaving the original oil in there until i come back from the dragon

my vote would be for 1 and 4, but not sure about 2. i'd say 3 is probably overkill.
and of course keep an eye on level...
*edit*
regarding why i wouldn't change oil after 600. you're using fresh oil and a fresh filter. the filter should catch any wear-in metal particulates that you have, the oil should be at top lubricating efficiency. and iirc, Honda doesn't recommend a change until 3500 (extreme use) anyway. if there was even a minor source of concern, i have no doubt they would recommend you get that oil changed at 600 miles.

I heard that you should leave the original oil in until at least 5K miles because they put a special additive in the oil at the factory to help with the break-in. Just watch the levels, and check your oil filter frequently to make sure it has not come loose.

They add molybdenum to the dino oil. People have had their 'breakin' oil tested and results comes back with hi MB count. Molybdenum is a good last-ditch lubricant for the break in and supposedly helps fuel mileage. Older blends (SH or SL) of Mobil One also had fairly high MB count for various reasons.
Motoo, try to get 400-500 miles on the car before Thursday, no VTEC. The trip to Knoxville should get you enough and will be varying in RPM to some degree. VTEC away once you get to 600. Change your oil to synthetic at 3750.
