Aftermarket pads get into a whole other dissertation, but the basics are that track pads dust like a MFer, are squeaky, and generally don't work very well UNTIL they are hot. Not really reccomended for the street.

For a one-time event like this, the OEM '04 pads will be great.

Don't mix fluids. Do a complete flush.

Basically, you open the bleeder furthest from the master cylindar (which would be the passenger side, rear.) And pump as much fluid out as possible WITHOUT letting air into the system. Fill the master with DOT4. Continue to pump fluid through until the fluid coming out of the bleeder is the DOT4 (if you use ATE Superblue, it is easy to tell, as the fluid is actually blue.) Continue to the LR, RF, LF in the same way.

Thanks for the info. I knew not to keep the ATE SuperBlue fluid around long once it had been open, but I didn't really know why. <feels smarter already>

Ofcourse it requires flush/bleed of brake system.
So hopefully that is clear.

 

On the flip side, I'll ask the more experienced drivers to remember that there are less experienced people out there. It will likely be difficult for them to know who is not as experienced, but I'll say it's a bit nerve-wracking to have someone on your a$$.
Last year I had only had the car out for a month, and this was my first group drive. I refused to drive beyond my abilities, but I knew I would be holding people up. I never found out who it was behind me who was kind enough to repeatedly back off so he could get a better run at the upcoming corners.

 

This is what I do. Just back off until you see someone coming up behind you, then take off until you catch up to the person in front.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

Thanks for the advice!! I ordered stock 04 pads and ATE superblue today. I had the tire checked out and they said they have more than 1/2 tread left.

Is there any other things we should check other than fluids levels?

I am already to go to bad it is only February. I guess that gives me time to upgrade the stereo or maybe add a supercharger (LOL)
