One other thought...since we know that food is a challenge for the first night, maybe a semi-organized pot luck dinner put on by those with cabins w/kitchens held some place central or at several of the larger cabins.

Mmmm...some WillieGee pasta!

I think the lesson learned by many was get a cabin!
Downfall to being single and not knowing many people is you cannot afford a cabin by yourself. The Inn rooms, as you have heard, had no clock, let alone a refrigerator or microwave. So getting food is limited. And sometimes you just want to room alone, not with a crowd.

One thing that would've made a nice difference Friday night, would've been if their Wildwood Grille had been open, as promised. This is a place that serves sandwiches, pizza, more casual fare.

We were really counting on that being available, but alas, all does not go as planned.

Thanks for the suggestions and feedback everyone; we'll certainly take it into account for DBR and try to make sure things only get better from here!

Thanks Raul! It was my third Dragon event and this year was much more relaxing than prior events. Other than the lack of places to eat, I thought the place was located perfectly near the Dragon and it was great! as someone already mentioned, drive to dragon was fun minus all the drama and traffic issues through local roads thus made it much more relaxing and fun.

Note to self, make sure to bring food and more powerful radio!

None of us could have anticipted the little "bumps" in the road. Because of them we are better prepared. I remember the dragon when we had 80 cars, and it was a little hectic. I'm amazed at how well this spot took out the clutter and made it great. I think it has lots of potential and would go back next time.

How many can we get on the houseboat?
Houseboat. Hmmm. Just don't invite any Minnesota Vikings!

I've seen the vinyl letters suggestion in a couple of threads now, and something along those lines would be good. Just being the goofball that I am, I bought some magnetic sheets from Staples that can be printed in an inkjet printer and printed our screen names. Obviously, the magnets weren't very useful while it was raining... but that type of thing isn't a bad idea. See:
