I know them as well and I don't think anyone ever questioned whether or not they were trying their best. I think a lot of people were shocked by the price of the accommodations. A lot of people (like you) didn't eat at the banquet, didn't eat lunch at the dam and ate food they preferred. A lot of people before WTD asked if they could register without paying for the food. That registration (my emphasis added to clarify the statement) was only $100 (roughly) and included things not included in DBRxi like magnets, t-shirts, Friday dinner, and Saturday lunch. This is almost 100% more expensive and that's not a sum to be excused as paltry.

Clarified to reflect that the roughly $100 registration fee for WTD9 included a lot of stuff like lunches, magnets, t-shirts, hotel overhead that are now separated out. If you stay at Tapoco, you won't have to pay for breakfast and dinner Thursday through Saturday and the dinner cost would be removed from the room rate for the Saturday nights banquet.

That was not what was meant. I could have been a bit more clear. The $100 was a reference to the registration costs. I'll edit my statement to make it more clear that the $100 referred to the registration. Once an English teacher, always an English teacher (and I'm a some time technical writer/editor, I should know better than to write vague references). Below is the corrected version.

I hope that clarifies my somewhat convoluted original statement satisfactorily.

tina @ tapoco says that the owner is not willing to offer rooms/cabins without meal plans attached. she also said that the 199 rate is for cabins (the smaller ones i guess?) and that the lodge rooms start at 219 which seems kind of crazy. oh and she also says we get 10% off the 199 as a part of the s2000 group. i told her we were led to believe that the 199 rate already included our discount and she says that is incorrect
