Scooter..... I'm trying to get a price from Natahala <s> and I'll call the Jamison also...... any interest in either of those?

We can drive over for the Banquet Saturday nite.... then head back to where ever.....

Having a fancy dinner Friday nite, will mean very little mingling also......

Raul, are your saying that it is $199/night for one OR two people? That sounds crazy??????? I'll probably be going "single" and that is way too expensive.

I really want to go but...not sure about the price as well. We want to go up the 15,16,17,18th....$800 plus taxes is almost $900. We may just go to TN and cruise around Nashville and see the fun stuff a few days and come one of the days and hang out for a cruise with everyone. Its not the money, its getting the most of of it ya know. Still thinking hard about it

Folks, remain calm...details are coming. Remember, it's all about QUALITY and NOT quantity in life.
remain calm lol, good luck with that...wait til ken wakes up
Ken is awake and has posted his opinion on Facebook (one of the larger time wasters in the universe): but to summarize: The food better be damn good (and I want the chef's name and where he studied and who he cooked with) and the wine list better be VERY extensive. I don't drink crap wine and I don't eat lousy food. That being said, "ala carte" , huh? Oh I forgot, Raul is close to someone in the food biz .

As far as the chef, SHE studied at Johnson & Wales in Charleston and worked at the Peninsula Grille. Look them up. A sample of the Tapoco menus is posted on their Facebook page:

Will we be choosing from a full menu, a limited selection, or just what they want to serve us?
Mikey, I was told the breakfast is a full hot buffet which changes each morning Thurs-Sunday. For dinner (see the link above for details) you get a choice of 4 entrees, which also change nightly, but the rest of the menu is set but you also get dessert choices.

Good. J&W is respectable. I know the Peninsula Grille. Now for the wine list. . (Thanks Sheila) For what is about a $120 daily premium, I certainly hope adult beverages are included
Sounds like this one might not be for you.

We are looking at a future event based at the French Laundry. Why don't you wait for that one?
Actually, I'd prefer El Bulli but they have closed. French Laundry is okay but I've already eaten there. I'm open to suggestion, Per Se might be nice.(and not to quibble, but an amuse bouche (literally, mouth entertainment) is a appetizer from the chef to get your palate excited, not a course...but then, I'm just a foodie... ). (BTW, is Chef Carter still at Peninsula Grill?)

After Mikey posted the Tapoco dinner menu I believe the gormet food is also not to my liking and the extra $80-$100 per day food cost would be a waste of money for me. Guess I'll also be looking to see what others come up with for alternative accomodations.

Mikey, please include me in your offsite group.

Scooter.... I'm looking at other nearby places also..... $600... and have no option of eating anywhere else.....

Entrees:
Triangoli Ravioli with Roasted Wild Mushroom, Brown Butter Sauce Topped With Crisp Bacon and Green Onions I hate mushrooms..... so this one is out!

Wild Alaskan Salmon With Morels, Thyme and a Touch of Lemon On Spring Pea Risotto hate salmon..... another one out...

Beef Tenderloin With Crispy Polenta, Portobella Mushrooms, Wilted Greens and Pomegranate, Balsamic Vinaigrette ... again,,.. mushrooms.... won't eat it!

Quail Stuffed with Wild Rice, Water Chestnuts, and Apples With Apple Cider Vinegar Emulsion quail... I'm not into that either.... another one out...

This seems like it is going to be a event for people who have lots of cash to burn.... and like weird food!
You overlooked the morels in the Salmon. Morels are mushrooms, so now you have two reasons not to eat it..
