After Roll-out Cherohala Skyway Drive on Saturday
After the group roll-out and group photo shots, I will be leading a drive to lunch at Tellico Grains and then onto the Cherohala Skyway. If anyone needs it, we can stop at a gas station on the way after we leave the Dragon. Continuing on from the gas station stop, we'll head to lunch at Tellico Grains in Tellico Plains, then on to the Skyway.
Tellico Grains website . If you've never been there, you're in for a treat.
The pace is typically "semi-spirited" when traffic and conditions permit. This drive is suitable for everyone.
There will be at least two stops on the way. One at the scenic overlooks at the beginning of the skyway and again towards the end. At the end of the Skyway we'll stop at the gas station at the intersection at the end of the Skyway and Route 129. This is a great location, there's plenty of parking and they have a neat store with Skyway/Dragon decals and other assorted goodies. We'll head back up 129 to Deal's Gap where you can hit the Dragon again, or take Hellbender back to Fontana.
Total drive time is roughly 4 hours including lunch and miscellaneous overlook stops.
Meet at the Harley Store lot (approximately 5 miles from the Gravel Lot) to get organized. While there is no particular maximum number of cars allowed on this drive, I'd prefer to keep it to 15 or fewer just so we don't overload Tellico Grains.
