4-15-05 Crash Fest - Police Warning

yeah WSB, that sounds believable. i know down here, they'll have 2 officers to 1 car doing traffic stops... one runs the gun, the other scribbles as fast as possible.
ick.... that's enough enforcement to really put a damper on the day.

What a flash back to last year. I hope everyone has a speedy recovery and that our group next weekend can act as a role model for any other gatherings this year.

15 officers for 11 miles of road?
I call .
But, I am sure that we will all be respectful regardless of how many officers are there.

So how was it last year with that many cops? Did they ruin parts of the run? Did alot of people from the S crowd get tickets? Where the police assholes about speeders or did they just get people that crossed the line?

Actually 15 in 11 miles is beliveable. I was told by a Blount County deputy a couple weeks ago, the Punkin Valley Campground is having an Easy Riders-style rally next month and I dont know what mental-midget decided to serve free beer then schedule a bike parade across 129 to Cherhola, but because of that, there will be 150 motorcycle cops from all over the state working the parade route. I think i'll stay home that weekend.

The exception might be the guys in the unmarked cars. Again, if you aren't being stupid, you'll likely be fine. I think the S crowd got a couple tickets but I don't know hte circumstances.

Red light running seems to be a non-issue when there's no revenue involved. As soon as someone came up with a way to "tax" it without involving a police officer sitting at the intersection, it's suddenly an issue.

On the subject of selective ticketing, I've yet to see a LEO ticket any tractor trailer for crossing lanes, or any car for crossing lanes at Deal's Gap, unless the car was passing somone. It's okay to drive all over the road, even around blind corners, but you can't pass in straight sections. (Sarcasm people - Please stay in your lane!)
*EDITED* Good point w1ng, I added a bit of clarification.
