4-15-05 Crash Fest - Police Warning
#11
Edited.
I hope those who were injured have a speedy recovery.
Here is hoping to a very safe weekend next week. Hopefully, considering the events of this weekend, the crazies will stay home and we will have an uneventful weekend.

wandered into this thread over at the Hyabusa forums... personally, i don't really care about any of the commentary other than this quote:
sounds like they were already planning to give us a warm welcome....
*edit: this quote should be taken with all the validity and respect that generic internet rumors via strangers ever have.... *

I was with the small group riding with Paul when he went down. Paul & I were the only Busa.org members in the group. None of the other accidents this weekend involved Busas or Busa.org folks to the best of my knowledge. To blame us for attracting law enforcement is unfounded. The officer that worked Paul's accident told us that they were set to be up there anyway, and that next weekend they had already scheduled fifteen officers to patrol the Dragon, not because of anyones actions in particular, but because this is considered the semi-official "kick off of the season". Everyone makes mistakes, and it doesn't matter what you ride.

15 officers for 11 miles of road?
I call .
But, I am sure that we will all be respectful regardless of how many officers are there.

yeah, 15 sounds a bit far fetched to me as well... but even if the officer or story teller were exaggerating (assuming there is ANY truth to this as well) -- it still sounds as if they had an active weekend planned.
it's my first time out, so i wasn't planning to push it even a little... still, i figured i'd pass on the net-rumor to those who might be planning.

15 occifers, ~10 cars. Expect a speed trap on 129 southbound to the gravel lot, 28 west to the gap, and 129 north/south between the cherryhole and the gap. Few more undercovers rolling slow as possible to sucker bikes into passing them, a couple manning the outposts, and 2 or 3 actually giving tickets on the Dragon.
