Battlestar Galactica......one of the best shows on TV, you just gotta get past the title. It's nothing like what you might think.
Firefly is good too, short, but definitely good.
Lost is interesting as well, but you will need quite a bit of patience to watch it as there are lots of questions to ask and not exactly a huge influx of answers thus far.

im not in to the sci-fi thing but a friend of my was watching this show and i got hooked.
the following week we watched all of them. season 1,2,2.5 cant wait for the 3rd one.
