I noticed many similarities between this movie and American Beauty, the directors previous film. Both use small amounts of a certain color very vividly, red in American Beauty and blue in Road to Perdition. Also the camera angles were very similar. Also, in both films, the main character makes major life bettering decisions and are also both killed when looking back in retrospect on their lives. They are also both killed without knowing they are about to be shot. I'm sure there are other similarities, but I can't think of any right now. Both movies are really superb.
