I also saw this on DVD, but it didn't do anything for me. I've seen the stage performance several times, and I know the story very well. But the movie made the story so complicated that it was difficult to follow -- especially for anyone who is not familiar with the plot. There were too many people to follow in the movie, unlike the stage show where you know who is "important" and who is not. The singing by Christine was very good; but the Phantom sounded out of breath all the time, and there was no emotion in his singing.

Overall, I much prefer the stage show (regardless of cast) to the movie.
