Default ARGO

Saw ARGO tonight.

I really enjoyed the movie but I didn't love it -- I have no real complaints, other than the movie didn't surprise me with anything.
The movie worked as a whole. The characters, the set-up, the slow build...all worked.

But I guess I wanted more. I wanted the movie to surprise me and it just never did.
I can't blame the movie for that, I mean it's a pretty linear story and I'd rather it err on the side of believable (as opposed ti being ridiculous just to surprise me).

i dont know what you wanted to expect. it is based on a true story. it is like saying the movie pearl harbor didnt surprise you and you wished that pearl harbor didn't sink which would added a twist to the movie.

Yep -- believe me, I understand how petty it sounds.
I didn't want a DIFFERENT ending, just one that took me for a more thrilling ride.

I think it was more of an 'old-school' movie (no twist ending, just a simple plot that's done well).

I though it was great. Not a DVD "buy" but I could certainly sit through it again. It does a great job of building tension even though you know what the ending is. I also think Ben Affleck's real talent is directing. He was good in this movie, but sometimes he is a solid actor and sometimes he sucks, but everything he has directed I have really liked.

I also think the timing for a movie like this could not be any more perfect. Not in a political sense, but in that the country is in kind of a similar state as we were back in the late 70's.

Great timepiece, great acting, tension was fantastic. Not many (any?) cons come to mind.

I thought it was really well made. Not exciting or anything but well made and enjoyable enough.

Definitely worth renting
