The Time Has Come
So my new tires cam in today! Dunlop Direzza star specs! I need to get them put on but before I do that I need to get my front shock replaced. Im a novice to suspension work having never replaced one myself. I know the basics of what to unbolt and such but im not sure if there is anything im missing. Is there anything more to it other than unbolting it and swapping the spring over? It just seems foolish to pay the dealer 250 for an alignment and to install one shock.

Are you replacing the whole front shock, or just the spring? If your replacing the whole shock, it should only take you 30 minutes to do the one side. You will definitely want to get an alignment done after the swap, make sure you let the new shock break in for a few miles though first

Pre-load the suspension when setting the torque on any bolt.

Im replacing the whole shock assembly. Mines currently leaking a bit. Obviously transfering over the srping and any other items that I have to from the old one. My Toe is way off in the front so im getting an alignment anyway after I replace it.

Preload = weighted just as if it was on the road. When torquing the nuts / bolts use a jack to "weight" the suspension.
