someone broke into my car...

Same thing happened to me when I was in Boston visiting my girlfriend except they broke my passenger side window and tore the entire center console apart. They stole maybe 5 dollars worth of change but left my radar detector, sunglasses, and radio. The drive home in the rain was great.

Same thing happened to me almost 2 years ago in University City area. Top was slit, nothing taken. Thinks thieves were scared away.
Cost to replace on short notice and through insurance around $2,000 could not really shop around it was November, had not indoor place to store the car, etc.
Found a garage nearby and store it there. Hard to understand people.

crack addicts dude. These people aren't thinking "hey this is an inconvenience, I should just break a window." They are thinking, I WANT SOME CRACK!@!#!@
I leave my doors unlocked in and around shitty areas (if I absolutely have to have my car in a shitty area) just in case they check the handle first. This way they take some chump change and roll instead of me needing to replace a window and or a soft top.
In fact, I used to leave a 20 in the center console so they felt like they got something and wouldn't tear the $#%ing center console out.
This has worked twice and I haven't had to replace either.
the only other concern I've had is the ol' trunklid crowbar shit. They can't seem to find the button and I have found marks on the trunk lid like it was about to get busted up and something spooked them.
