R5 accident Today
I was on the train that did the 'tapping' underground today with another train.
I say tapping cause thats what the news agencies are saying.
Let me make it clear, it was no tap. I usually am asleep by the time the accident happened, thank God I wasn't. Not only that but 7/10 times the train is packed and people are standing in the middle isle humping each other. Today was one of those 3.
Had I not been awake or standing I might be having some serious injuries. One in a million chance day that I met my buddy on the train today and decided to not sleep. Who would have thought...
To me the impact was equivalent to a car accident at 45, but worse; because you don't know it's coming.
Oh yeah, and the brakes weren't used. The train stopped from hitting the other, so you see... it was no tap.
Anyways, praise God I'm ok!!!!!

didn't mean for jasonjm (unless he's hurt) but i'm sure at least one of the 30 injured are thinking lawsuit. I meant it more as what you said, just what septa needs to go down the drain even more.
haven't seen anything about why/how it happened yet, going too fast, or the other train just didn't leave the station yet?

So far as someone pointed out up to at least 30 injuries.
Right around the location of where the accident occured, the trains (Express) start to speed up to what I would consider full speed....faaaast. I'm not sure exactly how fast we were moving. Under the dark tunnel it's hard to gauge speed because there is nothing to see. All in all, i would not consider it a Tap. Any faster and everyone (and i mean everyone) would've had really bad wiplash.
Septa needs change so badly.
They car start by automating functions, and start using BioDiesel in their buses. I can think of quite a few more things they can do...
