Default Question for those who cleared headlights

So to make a long story short I have been looking for stuff to do this Sat morning until evening at my parents house because there is a baby shower being thrown at my house for my sister in law. One of the things I came up with was doing clear sidemarkers, which are cheap and easy to get, but that then lead to me wanting to do my headlights as well. However I don't really want to spend the money on the lenses right now, nor do I have the time to get them shipped (except maybe from Rick).

So while looking through some pics of clear headlights I came accross some pics of people who simply removed their lenses and didn't replace them. For most I think it looks awesome.

Examples:

papa5murf -

However then I get to this pic, and I reeeeally don't want it to end up like this:

So I want to hear from you guys, when doing your lights was there a reflector behind it like the above pics, or was it missing like the bottom one?

Those aren't missing. That picture was probably taken w/o flash so it doesn't shine on the reflectors.

The other pictures above had sunlight or flash reflecting off.

Are you sure?

When I look at that last pic, the bottom bulb clearly has a reflector behind it, where the bulb above does not seem to have one.

That second pic had them painted or something. On the OEM headlight the entire backing is reflective.

That's what I was thinking, looking at it even closer now, it actually looks like the reflective part was removed. You can see the bottom half has tabs that come up into the top area, which were probably behind a plastic part with a reflective front. Either way I think I am going to crack my headlights open this weekend and check it out. Wish me luck.

Make sure you seal them good before they go back on.
