Hey Ryan,

Have you thought about powder coating the Valve Cover?

I know

But... this is something I'd like opinions on. Personally, I could care less - it's one of those changes that's primarily for shows and "wow" factors when opening the hood.

I considered it, but the only color I could think of going with is red (again). Anything else would clash with the car's color scheme. I thought the polished cover would go nicely with the polished supercharger and piping. I'm very cautious of too much polished stuff under the hood, though - that sort of thing is better suited to older cars (late 60s era muscle cars and full-on hot-rods, for instance).

But it's only cool if the flames are the same color as the car. Black flames...???

Chrome and Powder Coating
Believe it or not, that's a little much for my tastes with all the polished pieces, silver/chrome hoses and shiny red cover. Personally, I'm a fan of less is more in my engine compartments to look as close to stock as possible, with very minor changes. I've even gone wrapped the 4 gauge stereo power wire with wire loom so as to not draw too much attention to it. Replacing some existing pieces is fine, but I'm not into all the add-ons and covers. All my wiring for the driving lights, sensors, gauges, etc. is handled the same way - black wire loom so as to not stick out. I'll admit I'm swapping the battery hold-down and injector cover with the Muz pieces - the RM injector cover had too many holes and the solid battery piece looked too cheap for my tastes. In the end, it's all personal preference, though. I agree, the powder-coating job does look top-notch.

I finalized arrangements today - my valve cover goes off to get polished while I'm away on the honeymoon. I've got a Spoon CF wire cover enroute to replace the Comptech billet piece (I didn't want too much polished stuff).

Other good news - after 3 months of waiting, my Mugen hood shipped this past Monday!!!
