Default Pocono Track Days - Aug 1 and 2

All,

This is the program I went to last year. It was at Pocono, on the North Course. The map is posted a few posts down I had a blast. It wasn't quite as wide open as the program jfo went to the same day, but it is designed as instructional. IIRC correctly, I had 4 track sessions of about 1/2 hour each, and I'd guess I got around 60-70 laps during the event.

I try to post more information as I get it, however, the preliminary docs I have may be it until registration. The cost is $200 / day.

Since it is heavily Miata based, there are no rollbar restrictions. For beginners, there are instruction sessions and in car instructors. My understanding from the event coordinator is that at least 50 % of the cars need to be Miatas. He also tries to balance the amount of novices with the more advanced groups.

Disclaimer, right from Jeff who is organizing the event: Preference is given to those who are returning from previous years. If you are interested, get forms and money in early to hold your spot.

If you are interested, send me a PM with your name and email address. I'll send you the preliminary forms, and the contact from the Miata club. You can take over from there, and control your own destiny. I don't know the answer about registration cutoff or other things.

You run against the NASCAR direction, from the NASCAR pit entrance up toward the top of the tri-oval. Duck into the infield with a 25? degree bend. Small straight, right turn, straight, turn left, straight, hairpin right, long straight, left turn, then out onto the NASCAR track again.

Or you can look up Pocono Racetrack on the net, and find the map diagram there.

I have done the East Course too many times to count, but that was on two wheels. I have never seen cars on the East Course either.

I have seen cars run the North Course, I don't think it can compare to BeaveRun, Summit Point or VIR, but it sure is close to home.

Nishant,

I had a blast. I think getting your car on a track and really driving it is worth the money. There are things you can do that you can't do elsewhere, and although there are always risks, I think they are minimized at the track.

Only you can decide, but check the Fall Colors threads, and read what people said there about getting on a track.

To freq's point, this isn't a full blown road course like the other courses, but its close, and it will give you an idea of getting out there.
