New wrap ruined paint - what would you do?

First of all - that sucks, and good luck....
Of course he'll say it's faulty material. It takes the burden off of his shop for the install. Getting the manufacturer to agree it was faulty is another story altogether. I'd also say that you doing the removal instead of the shop might be a liability in this case. Again, good luck with it.

I can promise that because you peeled off the wrap, they will pin the blame on you. Even if you threaten legal action, their lawyer/or insurance company and the wrap makers lawyer will say since you removed it, you caused the damage. It's a messed up world and people will find any reason not to cover something.
Now, if you are dealing with a stand up guy, he will take the hit and pay for your respray….
Let us know what happens.
PS- There was a guy that had a 15 month old imola orange wrap at the Dragon and it looked as good as new. Some shops do very good work with this wrap stuff.

I know and at this point I have accepted that Im just going to pay for it. My buddy works at Thompson Audi, Porsche, and BMW's body shop and said their work is really great. Called in a favor for me so Im going to drop it there tomorrow.

You're probably SOL.
Did you sign anything prior to the wrap installation waving the installer of liability?
Maybe you'll get lucky and Avery will cover some of the repair cost.
Best of luck.

Yea that sucks, but I gotta wonder why on earth you would continue to remove the panels and damage the pain when you took of the first one and saw damage. Its easy to Monday-morning quarterback, but I guess this is a touch lesson learned. I would have stopped instantly when the removal started to damage the paint and went back to the shop to have them remove the rest or let them fight it out with the film manufacturer on who is going to clean up the mess. Since you did the removal its easy for the manufacturer to blame the installer and you have no way to prove otherwise and you now just made a deal with the installer that you would remove it yourself for a full refund... which you got, which leaves you holding the bag in the end :-( .
Anyway... it all sucks. Hope the rest works out ok.

Spoke to the installer once I started and sent him pics. The manufactures warranty excluded paint so he told me to finish taking it off. He meet me to see the car before I started and did agree the material was faulty. At this point it had to come off and there's no trick. Heat and pull. He did agree to split the cost of repainting with me so hopefully he stays true to his word and at this point I believe he will.

So the shop I have used for years closed about 2 years ago. The painter opened his on place called Extreme Auto in the NE. He has painted a quarter on my car before and knows what I want. Price was $2500 for full dissemble, strip, prime, wetsand, paint (with glamor clear which is a show clear), wetsand again and buff.
