Default Looking for a Mechanic in Lehigh Valley

Hey all,

I noticed that my clutch was slipping a little and it looks it's time to get the clutch replaced. I'm in Allentown and it's hard to find a good reputable shop to leave the car at. Anyone have any suggestions or referrals for shops in the 18104 area?

From what I've seen, a clutch assembly (flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, bearing) looks to be around ~600 online. I'm probably looking at around ~500 for labor. I'm willing to pay a little extra for shop supplied parts if it's reasonable, but some places are crazy wanting like 1200 just for parts.

Thanks.

Wow... called up Mark & Dales, and definitely 10x more reasonable than the other people I've spoken to.

I used to work for Jack Williams Tire and I ran wholesale calls to the entire Allentown area (All auto shops in Allentown I dealt with.). The best mechanic I ever came across anywhere is at Jack Williams on Lehigh St right off 78. His name is Mike hes the Chief Mechanic there. Hes a master mechanic mechanic that builds dragsters in his spare time. He really knows his suff and hes the only mechanic I trust with my cars. I drive over an hour just for his work. If you need any more info let me know.

Thanks BLs2k. I would occasionally visit the Jack Williams Auto Addictions on Tilghman street for things but they closed down. =P I'll definitely keep Mike in mind.

Those elitist pricks have moved to MacArthur Rd. They're still around.

The main mechanic at that place was a guy named Rick. Not sure if hes still the main guy but hes a terrible mechanic. My sister probably knows more and shes a nursing student. Everytime Auto Addictions had a big job they had to have that Mike I'm talking about go up there to do the job. The only thing that Rick could handle is a short ram intake and ive even seen him screw that up. He ended up at Auto Addictions after he got fired from Lehigh Tire for "improperly fixing cars."

Ahh. Yea, they totally are elitist. I don't see what makes them better than anyone else. Didn't really want to bad mouth them, but I definitely concur. I got a single tire installed by them, and it took forever while I waited in the showroom. =P

yeah they are super fast at taking your money but drag their feet on the work...also what i forgot to say is Jack Williams policy is that they dont install customer parts so if you have Mike at Lehigh St. do your clutch youd have to by it through them.
