Insurance cost for s2000 in Philly?
Hey guys,
I am from Philly area (Belmont and City Ave) and looking to get a s2000 as 2nd weekend car. I wonder how much you guys are paying for the insurance in Philly area. I am currently with nationwide for my Acura MDX and paying 6xx for 6 months.
Thanks!

It's pretty expensive to insure an S2000 - Pretty much the same as my Evo IX, and they both have identical coverages and deductibles. Both cars are listed as limited mileage "pleasure vehicles" on my policy. I usually suspend collision coverage on the S2000 during the winter months when it's packed in storage to save a few dollars.

hehe... insurance like women. It depends...
My personal experience (single, 25+, own, no priors, 700+ fico, no gaps...) for the s2000 ranges from: ~700 to ~1300/6 months in Allentown, PA. In order for you to know where you stand it depends on the following details:
Credit Score
Own or Rent
Location
Miles per Year
Prior Accidents & Traffic Violations
Age
Sex
Prior Insurance Coverages. (New Service is cheaper if you had 100/300 instead of minimums)
Marital Status
Make/Model/Year of Vehicle
Gaps in coverage
Coverage Limits
Teenage drivers in the same household.
etc...
Of these, the biggest factors are Age, Priors (traffic), Location and the actual coverage needed. Obviously, since you're asking this question, you're looking for a ballpark figure, and more than likely, not sure if you can afford the extra cost.
The second car as an s2k changes factors, but depending on your factors, I'd say you're looking at around 75 to 300 extra per month on the S. Real helpful numbers, eh? *chuckles* Go ask your insurance agent. Since you already have a policy, I typically email mine and giver them specific information.
Hey, How much to:
add 2010 audi a3 tdi at the same coverages?
remove rental car
Then I get my answer. =)

Too many factors to consider but I have full coverage on mine with low deductibles 300/100k liability, married, garage kept and pay about $475 every 6 months...I get a multi-car discount too for 3 cars on my policy and I live outside of philly. Bala is a nice area but its still philly be prepared to get raped on insurance for the s2k, you could probably drop coverage for 6 months of the year if you won't drive it at all in the winter.
