Hmmm...well, maybe we should have one at Pat's and one at Jim's and compare.

 

If you want the best go to Jim's, if you just want to be a tourist go to Pat's/Geno's

 

Jim's on South by far. If you want to see neon and be served by a$$holes go to Geno's

 

Is Jim's near the Italian Market on 9th St? I'm thinking of combining those two into one visit. Hoping for the weekend of June 19-21. Planning to stay at the Westin Philadelphia on 17th St.

Edit - I see Jim's is at 4th and South, so not far from 9th. I'm getting hungry!! Hoping to do alot of walking around the city, and the Duck Tour, also.

 

Wow, don't go to Jim's, everyone who gave you input lives either in the stcks or in Dirty Jerz, so their opinions don't mean squat in my book. Jim's is the same over chopped, over cooked crap that you can get back home at a local pizza joint, and its not worth going to a run down part of Philly like South Street. South Street = Lorenzo's Pizza.

Go to Pat's and Gino's, not the best but to you it will be the best steak you ever had, and its nationally known. Now if you want better that those two, go to Tony Lukes and get one of the Italians that they are famous for, and you will be drooling for more. Tony Lukes is my secound favorite BTW.

 

I see the competition still rages. Pat's, Geno's, Jim's, Lorenzo's, Tony Luke's...

 

I don't really like Pat's/Gino's, but I am from South Jersey and have a refined palette unlike the heathens living in Philadelphia who get their drinking water straight out of the Schuylkill River.

Jim's is a little better. Tony Luke's are MUCH better.

When I moved to Marlton(from the Voorhees/West-Berlin area) I was looking for good cheesesteak/hoagie places now that I'm no longer near Nardi's and Dominic's. The pizza place near my apartment doesn't really do a good job so Lee's it is.

Enjoy your stay, the ducks tour is funny. Are you going to check out the Franklin Institute while you're up here?

Lorenzo'e is a pizza joint, but I'm sure their cheese steak pizza is better than Jim's steaks.
Jim's will be better than what you get back home.

Tony Lukes is the best on the list, there are better places like Rick's, Steves, that get better reviews than any listed above. Pat's and Geno's are two spots for tourists to visit, or on a Friday/Saturday night at 3am or later 24/7, when you are wasted!!!!!


Go to the super market and buy yourself a pack of steak'ums and start frying!!

 

I'm a fan of Pats Cheesesteaks, and Larry's, which is near St. Joe's University. Larry's also has AMAZING fries.
