Default Good cars for 5-6k

So one of my housemates got her Acura TL totalled last week when it started raining hard. Some lady was putting on makeup, rear ended her and pushed her into the car in front of her. She got around 6k from insurance and is now on the car hunt!

Any suggestions for cars to get in the ball park of 5-6k or less?

I said:

Honda Civic
Honda Accord
Acura RSX (don't think she could find one for 5-6k)
Toyota Camry

Thanks!

5-6k honda, toyota are gonnabe older and probably have a lot of miles on them. Try and find one privately it will be cheaper, take it to a mechanic or look it over thoroughly first.

you can find a decent civic in that range... that is your best bet IMHO.

Subaru all the way. AWD, almost as reliable as a Honda. picked up my 97 impreza for 2 grand with high miles, lower miles would be around her price range maybe a few years newer.

For that kind of money anything "decent" is bound to be domestic or high mileage. Focus comes to mind, not as bad as the Neon and probably better than most imports at that price.

The last time I was at the dealer auction Lincoln LS were pretty cheap too.

haha! finally right?

It's actually not for sale anymore. My sister actually moved in with Ed and I... moved down from Alaska b/c her upcoming marriage fell through. Out of the kindness of my heart I'm giving it to her. Seeing as no one seems to want to buy it on here or craigslist, it's the least I can do.
