Detailing Intake manifold and engine block
I think I am going to detail the engine bay this weekend. I was wondering if anyone used any special products for the intake manifold and engine block like metal polish? Also does anyone apply anything to the alternator (it is clearly the dirtiest part of the engine) or is it best to not to touch it with any kind of spray or polish?

Do not get the alternator wet. I wouldn't spray it with anything. You could just use a rag to wipe dirt and dust off. Other than that, a simple degreaser should work well in cleaning you engine bay. Just cover the alternator with a plastic bag so you can use a hose to rinse everything down. Same thing with the battery.

Silkolene Pro-Prep is the cats ass for a finishing touch. It may be hard to find but if you have a motorcycle dealership nearby, ask them.

Awesome! Thanks I'll give it a shot. I just have to find it. I looked on amazon it doesn't seem to be there (or at least doesn't come up right away).
