Default DEL VAL FI

so i've been bouncing between boost options for quite a while now. It looks like i'll finally end up with a greddy turbo kit. I wanted to know if anyone could direct me on where i can get it installed and/or tuned thats local. I'm going to be using the emanage as of now. (may end up selling it and going with AEM).

any tips or advice will be appreciated. Also after install if i don't push the car hard, how safe is it to drive on the previous owners AP1 tune (just until i get tuned). The reason i ask is because i hear good things about a tuner in Virginia and want to know how safe the commute would be!

What tuner in VA are you looking into?

In all honesty, you should just have the tuner install the turbo kit if they offer that option.

A turbo install such as the Greddy shouldn't be hard at all to do. It basic bolt ons for the most part.

The Greddy kit is great for someone who will be content with its performance out of the box. The kit is 100% bolt on - if you can install an intake and exhaust then I suggest taking a stab at putting it in yourself. It's much easier to diagnose any problems you may have if your familiar with the kit and how it's put together.

AEM is far superior to the emanage, but again, if your content with the out of the box power than it will be just fine. Once the kit is on, you can drive the car on the prevous owners tune to make sure there's no leaks and everything is working, but don't go into boost until you get it tuned on the dyno with a fresh set of plugs.

Jeff Evans tuned my car, he does a good job and handles most of Metro NYC. I believe there is a tuner - P-tuning maybe - that has some good Emanage tuning experience.

Check out the FI section if you haven't already, there's a ton of information on the Greddy kit, how to install, problems etc.

Things you will need in addition to the turbo kit. An aftermarket clutch to hold the excess hp/tq u will be making. Wideband and Boost gauges are pretty much a must esp if you will be driving on it untuned/previous owners tune. You can do damage extremely fast if the car runs lean or you overboost. Most likely you will be running right off the wastegate but nothing is perfect and you dont want to over boost or have boost creep. If you are inexperienced with turbos you need to have a professional do the install and tuning, no matter how easy it seems. If anything baseline the emanage with the basic s2000 tune that greddy offers instead of running on the previous tune.

Jeff is located in Bethlehem PA - check out Evans-Tuning.com for more info.

If you are looking for someone to install it for you, PM Minitoyota - he's a great resource on the forum and does installs.

Since you will be at <300rwhp, pretty much any aftermarket clutch will suffice.

I'd reccomend using an ACT HD with street disc and OEM Ap1 flywheel - this is very close to an oem feel and engagmenet - and even holds well in my car which is almost 500 rwhp

x2 on that clutch. I'm not supercharged or turbocharged but this clutch is very nice. Stiff and sporty feeling without being annoying, unless you commute in stop and go traffic every day

Cool sounds good guys, what are the best supporting mods for the greddy kit? I'm really eager to be @ 300WHP! I'm getting the base kit with 8K miles on it, HKS BOV, turbo timer, temp gauge for a pretty good deal. As of now i'm looking to buy an AEM tru boost gauge/controller.
