Longs Park is in Lancaster. I've never been there, but it's named after family of my best friend from childhood

I am seriously considering planning a good meet this summer for the central PA crew.

Who would be interested? Maybe a BBQ or something at Long's Park? I am open to ideas if enough people are interested.
If you coordinated with Paul Taylor (VTEC-4-2), he would plan the road portion (starting from Carlisle perhaps) and you could do an evening BBQ....etc. The first Fall Colors (2002?) stopped by Deer Lodge in Mt Holly Springs for lunch.....they have a very nice outdoor deck area.....prices are not unreasonable.

There was a thead revived a while ago....I'll see if I can find it

So is Long's Park in Lancaster sounding good so far?

Also, correct if I am wrong but isn't Fall Colors for another area. I am kinda trying to designate our own area Central PA. Anyone else is invited of course. But it seems to me we would have a good number of members in Central PA.

I haven't met anyone locally from this site yet. So maybe you could point Paul to this thread.

Oh yeah, I am looking to keep this one inexpensive as to hopefully draw a bigger crowd. I am figuring a BBQ on a nice day in the park with all our cars would be great. Good first central PA meet. (At least I think it is the first)

Done....by re-upping the thread from earlier in the year (and last year's event thread). I suggested a few dates when I could be in the area, but you might want to have a couple different meets/ drives....with all of the great roads in the area.

One caveat: Longs Park might be great, but the area east of the Susquehanna tends to be much more crowded than the area west of the Susquehanna, and north of Route 30. That's why previous drives (twice) have started in Carlisle (easy access via I-81 and I-76).....touring to the north and west

Here are some pics from last year's drive, which went as far as Horseshoe Curve near Altoona

Fall Colors started in 2001.....grew to become a focus for folks from all over the eastern HALF of the country.....many came from midwest and new england....even a few stalwarts (nut cases ) from as far as FL and TX and LA.

The last big one was 2004 at Beaver Run, with somewhat less success in 2005 at the same location. I was not able to attend, but it was still fun. I'm not sure what plans are in the works for 2006....

I think this is the history of locations (someone else may want to correct me )

FC 2001- Baltimore to Gettysburg area
FC 2002- Hagerstown MD and wester PA
FC 2003- Hudson Valley and West Point NY area
FC 2004- Allegheny Valley and Beaver Run PA

Long's park is very nice, I would be in for that. Are there any golfer's, we could set up a game before the bbq?

As some of you might have noticed in the 'Oldie/ Carlisle' thread, Paul Taylor from Mechanicsburg has offered to once again set up a fast-paced ride thru north-central PA.

Trust me....no one will be disappointed by the route or pace that Paul sets....

As done before (several times) with Paul, I'll set up the thread and keep track of it. Do any of you have opinions on the dates that I've suggested on that other thread (quoted below)?

[QUOTE]
Paul-

There's a movement in the Central PA thread for a summer gathering.....interest by the newer folks around York/ Chambersburg/ Hanover/ etc.

These Saturdays could work for me: May 20, June 3, June 17, July 1. Depending on interest from you and the other 'local' folks, we could lock in on a date....see if others wanted to plan a 'social' evening afterwards. I had suggested the Deer Lodge on Rte 34 in Mt Holly Springs.....

May 20th might not work for me, the other dates should all be fine as far as I know.
