It was a little cheaper. Good starter DSLR, and I can move up in the future.
The grip felt a little better. The controls on all the Nikon models are very similar, unlike Canon, which is different in each of the product lines. The better lenses for Nikon are still black and match the body. The Canon pro style lenses are white and draw a lot of attention. I'm not too sure I want that when walking around Brazil?
I was leaning towards Canon because I knew a lot of people to trade stuff/ borrow stuff with. Turns out I know a few with Nikon as well, so that wasn't such a big deal as originally thought, plus I bought most of what I should need most of the time.
