I bought my car with stereo components installed

Alpine 9827 HU
MTX amp (forget the number, but its 4 ch 300-400 amps)
Speakers (no clue what kind, i do not remember)
Alpine TME 580 lcd
Trunk mounted DVD player.

All these components were an added bonus when buying the car, but I am not a audiophiles and particularly did not care about what was in there. The stereo system was sufficient in the beginning, but I beginning to think that it is not properly set up.

I plan on pulling the lcd and dvd out, remounting the amp cleanly (wires are everywhere in the spare tire well and it bothers me), setting the amp up so the speakers dont pop, and mounting an Alpine Ipod interface. I also want to reground the head unit since i am getting a high pitched noise while driving, and checking out the speakers for possible replacement.

basically, looking for tips or help this weekend. if anyone wants to give a hand, ill provide some food/drinks. im going to be doing this at my parent's house in Lower Providence. any tips?

So what are you gonna do with the big hole from the LCD?

there is no hole... the screen is velcro'd to the dash and the wire is running through the vent about the H/U.

The high pitched noise is called engine noise and its probably not the head unit. Most likely is the way the amp is wired up. If you say the wires are every where, Im sure its that.

Clean up the wiring, power wire run on one side of the car rca's on the other. Reground the amp to a better location and sand the paint away from the area first.

Im kind of concerned about the speakers popping. Explain more on that, all the time, what volumes, certain frequencies?

Unplug the rca's from the amp with the radio on and see if the noise is still there.
