Anyone know anything about tickets in NJ?

Frank,
In NJ, you can get almost all two point tickets reduced to a zero point 'Unsafe Operation' violation. The prosecutor at the courthouse should be able to accept you plea to have your ticket reduced to that. If he doesn't, you can then request another courtdate to speak to a lawyer.
You can have 2 unsafes in a rolling 5 (maybe 3?) year window. A 3rd unsafe is an automatic 4 point violation, no questions asked, period.
Unfortunately, NJ sees this as a revenue generation tool. The ADDITIONAL surcharge for the unsafe is I believe $250 now. As Jerry says however, no points and $250 up front is better than the insurance increase for years. My guess is that with the fine and surcharge, you're few hours in court will cost you about $350 total.
You're first note is also somewhat confusing. You got one summons and two warnings? Is the only summons the 'lane' violation? Are the warnings official written warnings, or just verbal ones. I believe that an official written warning becomes a ticket automatically if you get another ticket within a year.

i believe its 2 no points per year, and the 3rd one results in 4 points if i remember correctly...
anyway, my dad's friend was a police chief, and his son is on the force in the twp i got the ticket at...instead of getting a lawyer, one of them will be coming up their with me and will talk to the prosecutor...
im actually hoping the cop won't show for the court date, and then i can pray he wont show the second time and they will just drop it...if not will see what happens...the key is no points...
