Apparently, Zoe is of the "idealist" school of philosophy. If the tree falls in the forest, but no one is there to observe it, then it is meaningless to consider whether it's fallen or not.

I wouldn't say that it's meaningless, but I don't think anyone gives a rats' @ss about the tree that falls in the forest that nobody was there to witness...
...except maybe the family of cute little bunnies that were crushed underneath it at the time.
