I think the key is that the symbols repeat, and that after applying the formula, there's a fixed set of results.

When you add two digits of a two digit number and deduct the sum from the number (I mean when you follow their instructions), you can only get a set number of results:
Assume the number is xy. The formula would be:
(x * 10 + y) - (x + y)
= x * 10 + y - x - y
= x * 10 - x
= x * 9
i.e., multiples of 9 and since x := {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9}-
9, 18, 27, 36, 45, 54, 63, 72, 81


If you look in the chart, these numbers share the same symbol, and this symbol will always appear in the crystal ball. The symbol changes everytime you refresh the page, but the numbers above always share the same symbol.

It doesn't matter George, go to the page and look at the symbol next to these numbers:
9, 18, 27, 36, 45, 54, 63, 72, 81

They are all the same.
