I'm not sure why you'd want that much overlap on your current 28-55 lens. I'm thinking my first addition would be Canon's 70-200 IS...

The image stabilization is very nice. Gives you 2-3 stops in extra exposure for lower light images (i.e. you could take a 1/20th shot and get results comparable to a 1/30th or 1/40th shot). Very nice as you get towards longer focal lengths.
