Thanks Sam, I may need to think about regular maintenance to keep systems cleaner. I was able to get all of the buildup removed from the lower drain, and the new toilet is flushing like a champ. A nice change.

Thanks Rob. I think our issues were caused by hard water, uric acid, bad toilet seal, and a poor flushing toilet design. I hope the buildup of deposits will slow down going forward. Our new toilet is flushing like a dream now, it works so much better. I've thrown some big bombs at it and it has handled them all.
