Change in the epa? I'm not sure I understand though I think I may just be missing.

Apart from the fact that I just heard on the news that, "The EPA has just announced that car emmision levels are significantly lower over the past couple of days in the Bay Area. They currently have no explanation."

(did I get it? :

John,

You are true man of science for attempting such experiments.
However,
one must eventually ask if such experimentation is necessary. Noble as your effort is, I, for one, would hate to see you put yourself through anymore agony when the question might not necessarily be"does an 'S' get good mileage", but in fact "is an 'S' any fun to drive when it IS getting good mileage". Personally, I'm used to getting about 9MPG, so even on my most offensive of driving days in the 'S', the mileage is quite welcome.

In closing,

I commend you for your scientific investigation, and hope that you will soon be more permanently located in the VTEC zip code.

"May we never forget the RPM's that were lost during this experiment"

Whenever you read anything about cars and they give the stats...the fuel economy of a car is usually listed as NA EPA Fuel economy. I meant your mileage...

I won't know about mileage for sure until my next fillup next mon or tues BUT I think I'm seeing the fuel bars going down more slowly. Very unscientific observation.

I expect >20mpg.

Regarding my subjecting myself to this cruel and unusual punishment... I thought of doing this to an animal but it would be FAR too cruel.

That was my biggest gripe with the S2000, analog gauges would ebe better at rating this kind of thing as you were performing this experiment....

In the name of fuel economy, not only that you cannot Vtec, you must do the followings

drive with top up to enhance Cd
No hard cornering requiring excessive tires and brakes wearings.
No music to cut down on unneccessary electricity use.
No A/C.
Don't pass slower drivers b/c that would require speeding up & using more gas.
anything else.

I don't think I can do two of those things. (I'm doing the rest.) I don't think it's fair to ask me to put the top down or turn off my radio.

What do the rest of you think? I'll do it if you make a fuss.
