Ken, thanks to you for your words and for getting it. He's a pretty kindhearted guy and didn't want to be insensitive but wanted to underscore a real tragedy and not to ridicule it or exploit it. He's particularly outraged that there's a lot of denial in high ranks of the military about PTSD.
Puppets were completely deliberate to take the viewer off track and catch by surprise.
