The Partnership for a Drug-Free America is run by pharmaceutical companies and the tobacco companies.
I.E. "This is your brain ... this is your brain on drugs."
The companies do not want people purchasing illegal drugs ... rather they want the public to indulge in private medication and tobacco and alcohol. Therefore they formed this organization in order to influence the public into purchasing their products.
A great example is medicinal marijuana. A pharmaceutical company produces Marinol, a synthetic derivative of THC, which patients are given as a pain reliever for chronic problems. These producers obviously don't want the public to be using medicinal marijuana, rather they want them buying their pharmaceuticals.
I just thought this was rather interesting. The power of some corporations is just apalling.

When Standard Oil company was disbanded by the anti-trust act the original company created the new company Esso(Ess=S) they had to change their name because Esso was to reminiscent to SO, standard Oil which was part of the name of several of the subsidiaries of the original Standard Oil company, so for them to expand to new areas they changed their name to Exxon, which is why esso is now exxon
