Well, I ordered some parts for my Bonneville SSEi yesterday - SLP 2.8" pulley (for 14psi, vs. 8psi stock), a Thrasher liquid/air intercooler, Other Guys headers and S&B CAI, for something like $3300. And then 30 minutes after I ordered them online, I was out driving, and...

I blew my transmission. And, believe it or not, I wasn't even driving hard! In fact, I was putting along because I had just filled up and had told myself, "OK, I'm getting 300 miles on this tank, so help me God."

Anyway, I was leaving the light and the car started shaking violently, as though it was trying to tear itself apart from the inside out. I got off the gas, and it stopped. Pffew. But when I tried to accelerate, the tranny wouldn't engage! I'd give it gas, and the engine would rev to almost 5000rpm before it bit in, and finally started accelerating.

So I pulled into the first gas station to check things out. Obviously, there's not much to see unless there's a hole in your tranny pan, so I get back in to drive. Well, I put it in drive and the car wouldn't move! It would just rev and rev. I tried reverse, and all the lower gears, but the car just sat there.

I sat there trying to figure it out, when I finally gave up and called a few friends to try to get a ride or a tow. 10 minutes later, I start the car, and whadya know, it worked! So I get outta there. The car was still hesitating, and the tranny still slipping, but at least it was driveable. Or so I thought...

Five miles down the road, I'm driving through an underpass when the tranny totally gives out on me! I just barely made it out of the uphill part of the underpass, at about 15mph. I pushed it half a block, and into a Jack in the Box parking lot. Damn all those people that couldn't stop to help! A 150lb Asian pushing a 3800lb sedan! Nah, he doesn't need any help.

So anyway, I get my neighbor to tow me home with his lifted Ram 1500. Their tow rope was short, so I was less than 2 feet off their bumper, and the mom who was driving didn't know what the she was doing! I specifically told her to let me do most of the braking, to keep tension on the line, but noooo... She accelerates quick, then brakes and accelerates like she's driving normal! Moreover, she'd bitch at me for not braking soon enough. Well, if you'd scoot over to the right so I could see past your damn truck, maybe I could see the god damn red light!

I think my tranny is totally ed. Maybe it's just the governor that's stripped (plastic), but most likely it's the torque converter, AND probably the internals. I'll put money on it that I busted a few planetaries, and every single clutch pack.

Anyway, my uncle just sent a tow truck to come pick it up. He's gonna do the fix for me.

And then today, I drove my Camaro to school, and noticed it took a long time to warm up. Then on the way home, it took a long time to warm up, but then the temp just kept climbing! I drove it home at about 235

I have my S2000, a '72 240Z, '88 Monte Carlo SS, the '98 Bonneville SSEi that just exploded on me, and the '72 Camaro SS that I picked up last week.

What a bunch of bad luck! Well, at least you have a few sets of spare wheels!
