I'd like your thoughts. I'm considering selling..

You've all given exactly what I knew you'd give... your honest and fair opinion.
Here's the scoop. I *di* use the S as a daily but I don't like putting the miles on it that result. I'm at 50K after 39 months. Not horrible but I'd rather not put those miles in the S.
So I've been thinking of buying a second car for my daily. I've also been thinking of trading in the MY01 for an MY05. I'm not 100% wild about the *improvements* to the MY04 and MY05 but whatever...
So if I do those things I might like to rethink the whole thing from the ground up... I do that when faced with decisions. So enter the Elise which is one of the very few cars I would consider instead of another S.
My research to date suggests I'll hate everything about buying one and some of owning one (maintenance etc). OTOH... It's a beautiful car which embodies what I love about the S and takes it to the edge.
Like the S it's a lot of car for the price tag.
With those things in mind I face my conundrum. I'm leaning toward *not* getting an Elise but they are truly beautiful and a helluva car.

If I do get an Elise, I'd probably go his route as well.

I don't know what you would be intending on using the Elise for JD, but another consideration is that you have virually ZERO storage in the Elise. The S is fine for weekend trips for two (even longer if you are careful with the packing) but the Elise wouldn't really give you even that amount of luggage space. When I had the S I loved going away for weekends and putting some miles on the car, not so sure that I would have been able to with an Elise.
Just a thought for you ...

I drool over the Elise also, but I'm not sure it is the most practical choice out there. Nor is it the cheapest. I dunno, I just can't picture buying something with a Celica engine for 45-50k. That's just me. It is an awesome little car though.
