One person did contend that all laws are based off religious texts...so I asked them if adding yellow dye to margarine was in the bible and then said that tommorrow (it was saturday) i would be worshiping false idols at work and the police wouldnt stop me.

that was amusing in round...

and another contended that with "true" strict seperation one couldnt vote off of religious principles and I said that you could vote off of anything...including voting for kerry because he was cuter.



but the only joke that is funny outside of round was when a debater kept talking about "looseness" (in reference to loose seperation of church and state) and the opening of the next speech was "im tired of hearing about my opponents sexual preferences"

 

oh..

and I said that my flow (note pad) had so many arrows (...used when an opponent fails to respond to an argument so you cross it into your next speech) that it looked like custers last stand.

 

I went to states in NY, but we got clobbered by teams from Bronx HS of Science! They spread us to death, rather than debate the merits of our proposals...

Of course, the topic was energy and our proposal was solar powered space stations... I think from a merit point of view, we deserved to have our asses handed to us.

in semis my opponent tried to spread me with the neg time advantage...

but it backfired because he was all over the flow and muddled the round quite a bit.




oh well LD > CX ...but from what I hear ld is very different now than it used to be...much more "CXy"


on the having fun note....hopefully state will be...i need to get more people to qual tho: im the only one from my school....the first person to qual in LD in 4 years...
