I can't imagine that getting into car sales would be a problematcal transition for you, considering you have a real estate sales background. I think you should go for it. I think it'd be a lot more fun than real estate, although I don't think it'll be as potentially lucrative. My guess is housing is gonna' tank out soon anyway, though.
Actually, as with anything in life, I believe that "going for it" is the right approach. Just make sure you know what you want.
It'd be good to have a financial cushion while you jump into it, if you decide to do it.
