He's probably off in his house in the country partying and oblivious (I hope). James is a good guy.

Thanks for the vote of confidence there George

I DID feel the quake .... ****ING HUGE !!!!!!! (Pardon my language but there was only one word for it !!!!! )

I was sitting in the car at traffic lights as it hit ..... car started rocking side to side and I thought "shit the engine is running really rough!" Then I noticed that the traffic lights were swaying as were the street lights .....

Fortunately it was 300km away from Tokyo ..... but it still felt VERY powerful !!!!

Thanks for the thoughts though guys

James, I had a similar experience during the Whittier Quake in the late 80's. I had just left the gym about 8 AM. I'm driving down the street when, all of a sudden, it feels like I'm having four blowouts. Then I see my friend's auto repair shop crumble and collapse, crushing about a dozen cars with bricks. Then a Pasadena motorcycle cop loses it and lays his bike down right in front of me. I stop and help him up. I get to work, a 13 story building, and am almost trampled by coworfkers fleeing, getting out of the building. Aren't earthquakes delightful.

They are one of the few natural occurrences the scare the sh1t out of me !!! Which is great when you are living in Japan

That was just about the only topic of conversation last night "The Quake". The good thing here is that the buildings are built to withstand this sort of thing ...... .... but then again they can only last up to a certain amount .....

And the other goods news ..... the seismologists (or whatever they are called) are predicting that Mount Fuji will erupt within the next four years !!!!
