I would basically let anyone drive my car AFTER I have seen them drive theirs ..... as long as they can drive reasonably well and they are insured ... I would have no problems letting them drive ....

It all depends on how anal the guy is about the car.. Personally if I know the person can drive stick well, go ahead, after all it's just a hunk of metal.. I don't have a huge emotional attachement to it.. shrug.. I own my car, it doesn't own me..

Yeah, packing light and being gone that long don't really mix. I'm TOTALLY jealous of your trip. Florence is the only city you listed that I've been to...

I spent two months backpacking round Australia ..... you HAVE to pack light for a trip like that .... otherwise you are going to break your back !!!
Trying to get everything you need for 2 months into a 70 litre backpack certainly makes you think twice about what you NEED to take and what would be NICE to take ....
