As for brake noises, my pads squeal horribly when driving normal. Only under hard(er) braking does the squealing lessen. It sounds like a god damn piglet being gutted alive.

Brake dust is also horrible, but I guess that's the price you pay for phenomenal braking power...

FYI, my car exhibited the plate rattling after about 25k miles (3rd set of pads, countless brake fluid swaps/bleeds), and was aggravated by a curb at around 34500.

Oh, and to figure out if it's your brakes rattling... park the car with the wheels turned full lock, and hit the outside edge of the tire (either with your fist or a rubber mallet). You can clearly hear the plates rattle a bit if they're loose.
